The Rubber Authority of Thailand or RAOT is an organization that manages the entire rubber system of Thailand under the vision “Rubber management for a sustainable future” by promoting and supporting rubber smallholders, rubber farmer Institutes, and rubber business operators to be strong, stable, and develop Thai’s rubber industry in term of production, processing, and marketing potential, with higher competitiveness and connection throughout the rubber supply chain and rubber value chain.
At present, RAOT recognizes the importance of environmental conservation. We are ready to become the "leader" in the production of rubber and processed rubber products under the European Union Deforestation-free Regulations or EUDR, which is a measure to ensure a trade of deforestation-free products. The EUDR measures have 3 important conditions:
The goods, raw materials and processed products from 7 commodity groups of cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, soybeans, wood and rubber must not be produced in areas related to deforestation from December 31, 2020 onwards
The production process must comply with the law of the producing countries, such as land, labor, human rights, environmental, forestry, and tax law
The product must be inspected and evaluated according to the European Union’s instruction. The operator must submit a Due Diligence Statement before importing or exporting the good
For large enterprises, the EUDR measures will come into effect on December 30, 2024, before being implemented for small producers, importers, and exporters on June 30, 2025.
Therefore, RAOT is ready to systematically collect farmers' registration information to distinguish the plantation, set farmer registration number that can 100% be traced back with cooperation from business operators by their use of the rubber auction trading system through the Digital Platform Thai Rubber Trade or TRT. The details of each trade can be clearly examined as data is stored and collected. The output of each member is systematically organized, ready for the Block chain technology to support Traceability of information on the origin of rubber products. Therefore, it is possible to verify which products are sold by which member's plantation? Where is the location of each plantation? And if the plantation has a type of land title document that meets the conditions of the EUDR measures? This is to build confidence in the Thai rubber trading system that supports the EUDR measures, increasing the opportunity to push Thai rubber up to international market standards.
Additionally, RAOT also promotes the production of rubber products and processed rubber products under the EUDR measures to emphasize Thailand's readiness to drive the rubber industry towards international standards by producing good quality tires “GREENERGY TYRE” under the concept of “Driving every life towards sustainability” by using high quality rubber raw materials that follow the EUDR measures, along with developing a complete and efficient Thai rubber information management system. This will build confidence in Thai rubber standards for rubber consumers around the world. They will be able to trace back the products to their point of origin correctly and accurately, creating added value and developing the Thai tire industry in line with government policy that is ready to push Thai products to meet international standards for export to the world market.
